Sermon on the Mount
Three Month Series
Small group teachings and discussions that walk your group through the entire Sermon on the Mount.
Overview
The series goes through almost every verse, passage by passage in order, of the Sermon on the Mount throughout the 13 weeks. It was originally written for the middle school group that meets on Sunday mornings at CityLight Vineyard Church. Because of this, the format is different than VY’s normal curriculum format. It was built for a small group that meets for about 30 minutes on a Sunday morning. As a result, instead of what you may be used to, each week includes a few basic elements: a game; a starter question; a passage from the Sermon on the Mount; and discussion questions. We hope you enjoy this resource! Thanks to CityLight for generously donating this study!
Why This Topic?
Part of the mandate that Jesus gave his followers was to make disciples and teach them to obey his teachings. The Sermon on the Mount is a super relevant and accessible place to start with young people wanting to learn more about the teachings of Jesus. It also contains so many “hooks” that they have most likely heard of before, like the Lord’s Prayer and The Beatitudes, that it provides an easy on-ramp no matter their religious background. These passages are full of ripe discussions, difficult topics, and deep encouragement. We hope you enjoy the journey through Jesus’ most famous collection of teachings!
