Overview

In the Vineyard we believe that learning to hear God’s voice, and living in submission and obedience to it, is a foundational skill we all should grow in throughout our lives. Sometimes hearing God’s voice can start to feel intimidating though, or like it is only for certain people. In this curriculum book we want to give teens the opportunity to not only learn about how God wants to speak to them because he loves them, but also to experience it and grow in confidence. Our prayer is that this will lead to a lifetime of living in communion with the voice of their Heavenly Father.

Weekly Topics

WEEK 1 – IS THAT YOU GOD?
Why does God speak to us? And how? What can we learn from looking at examples from the Bible of the different ways God speaks to people? This first lesson lays the foundation that the love of God, and relationship with him, are the core principles for hearing his voice.

WEEK 2 – THE BASICS
In this session we try to de-mystify hearing God’s voice. Is this something we can all do? Are there some practical suggestions that will help us quiet ourselves to hear the voice of our loving God?

WEEK 3: THE FIVE STEP PRAYER MODEL
As we grow in our confidence to hear his voice, we will have opportunities to pray for others and hear his encouragements fo them. To that end, we spend some time training (and showing) how to use the classic Vineyard 5 Step Prayer Model in prayer ministry, incorporating what we’ve learned about hearing God’s voice.

WEEK 4: TAKING RISKS FOR JESUS
In this last lesson we’ll cover the fact that courage and boldness are often needed in our journey to follow God. He calls all of us to a life of ministry, and often that requires us getting out of our comfort zones!
