Overview
Let’s be honest. Following Jesus as a teenager in our culture is not easy right now. Christians are often portrayed as judgmental, hateful, or just irrelevant. Often teens who do follow Jesus are either so different that people can’t relate to them, or they look so much like the world, that you can’t tell the difference. How can a teenager follow Jesus in todays’ culture?

WEEK 1: FAITH: IT STARTS ON THE INSIDE
Mariana and Marisabel Vale
This teaching will be focused on the importance of cultivating an interior life with Jesus. A personal relationship of faith that sustains and supports everything else. In order to follow Jesus as a teen in this culture, it must start on the inside. What are some ways as a teen in today’s culture, we can work towards growing in this area, even though we know we will fail, and won’t be perfect?
WEEK 2: LOVE: LOVING ME LIKE GOD DOES
Paige Miller
Loving others can be hard. Loving yourself is often even more difficult. Before anything else can really happen, I need to know that God loves me, and learn to love myself as he does. What has God shown us through Scripture, that can encourage us to build our self image on God’s love, and not society’s expectations?
WEEK 3: LOVE LOVING OTHERS LIKE GOD DOES
Marie Stepp
The mark of a Christian should be love. As a teen follower of Jesus in today’s culture, what does it mean to love others like Jesus does? What should that look like?
WEEK 4: PURITY: STANDING APART FROM CULTURE
Louis Lopez
Temptation is part of the everyday existence of a teen in today’s culture. You can’t look at social media, watch Netflix, or hang out with your friends without it shouting for your attention. Add to that the fact that we all make mistakes! So how does a teen follow Jesus’ example of purity in today’s culture? Is purity even possible? Can we learn to live by a different set of standards than the world?
WEEK 5: SPEECH: HOW TO SOUND DIFFERENT THAN THE WORLD
Kaydon Mayo
Is it even possible to be surrounded by people who say whatever they want all the time, and not be influenced by that? What should my goal be with my words? How should I talk about others?
WEEK 6: CONDUCT: CALLED OUT BY GOD
Elliot Dunn
God has called us to be the light of the world, but sometimes that can seem overwhelming! How can we learn to live for Jesus, when it feels like we are in the minority? What can we do to strengthen our faith so that we “live into” our calling from God to be the light of the world?
