Prayer
Four Week Written Series
A curriculum designed to introduce teens to the how, what, and why of prayer.
Overview
Discipleship to Jesus starts on the inside and grows outward. Our personal, interior life with God is the source from which flows our external life with others, as well as our missional life. Prayer is one of the key spiritual disciplines for our interior life and relationship with Jesus. In this curriculum we discuss how to make prayer a conversation with a God who loves you. We also give practical guidance on how and what to pray, and remind the reader regularly that prayer is all about relationship!
Weekly Topics
WEEK 1: WHAT IS PRAYER?
At its core, prayer is a conversation with a God who loves us deeply. This week we will explore ways to make prayer more conversational, and encourage teens to start exploring their own prayer life.
WEEK 2: WHAT TO PRAY
Knowing what to pray can be a little daunting. This week we will look at the Lord’s Prayer together and discover how we can pray according to the pattern Jesus has given us.
WEEK 3: HOW TO PRAY
This week we’ll discuss Jesus’ command to pray in secret. Why does Jesus think this is important? And how should it influence how we pray?
WEEK 4: WHY PRAY?
This week we come back to the core of prayer: relationship. Why do we pray? Is it to get answers? To get what we want? Or is prayer designed to draw our hearts back to God in relationship?
